What's up guys, it's Sam and Taylor, and we want you to put your shoes on, pop open that energy drink, and go. Hello guys, welcome to another episode. I'm Taylor. And I'm Sam. In case you don't know. Yeah. Today we got a nice guest episode. Super fun. We have the Cavender Twins on, which was a great time recording with them. Really love them. So sweet. So stay tuned for that. But first, let's talk about us. Yeah. What has been new? I don't even freaking know because I feel like we chat so much with you guys. Yeah.

I don't even know. Before this, we were talking to Taylor. I was like, what did we talk about? See, I kind of feel the opposite. I feel like this week felt years long. Monday to right now, I feel like since our last podcast. Oh, my God. You know what? I think I know why I feel like that. It's because, even I said this this morning, all the way from...

Saturday to Thursday, I've been vlogging. Yeah. So I'm like, in my mind, they've already seen what I've done this week. No, they haven't. And they haven't. So then I'm just like, oh, okay, I can recap. Yeah, I just feel like this week has been the longest of all time, but we had like a good week. We did. Lots of busy stuff, but also at the same time, a lot of balance with like

our mental health, like getting out and like doing things. So we went to the Christmas lights. Did we talk about that last time? No, we didn't. We didn't. Yeah, guys. So funny. We were literally having the time of our lives. Actually, this was the only time we were not vlogging all week. We just left our cameras on because that day I was doing a full day of eating, I believe, or something like that. So I didn't need my camera like while we were gone. I don't know what I filmed that day. I can't remember what it was actually. I didn't need my camera.

Oh, yeah, no, I don't remember. But anyway, we went to this, like, Christmas lights thing because from our apartment, you can see the park and you can see that there's this massive, like, purple Christmas tree. So we were like, let's go drive to it. Like, she was like, I think there's Christmas lights. And I was like, yeah, we can go see it. But then from the parking garage, I looked and I saw this, like, just all of these lights. And I was like, oh, my God, no way. I was like...

We have to go. I was like, I didn't even know it was that cool. Yeah, so we drive over there. We had no idea what to expect. We didn't know if we had to get out of the car or if it was like a drive-thru thing or if it was free. Like, we had no idea. Where the entrance was. Yeah, where the entrance was. We entered like a few different like wrong areas. We went through like a...

Oh my God, yeah. There was like another park, like another, I don't even know. Entryway, like of something. Yeah, another type of area that was closed. But he was there with his truck and cars just kept coming in. And we're like, is this where the Christmas light is?

I'm sorry. And he's like, I'm sorry. It's not. And I just told the other 20 cars, this is not where the Christmas lights are. And he probably, like, he was probably off work. I don't even know why he was still there. But he said it just to, like, every car. To circle back around. It's not the Christmas lights. And then the car that was behind us asked where the Christmas lights were. And I could hear him saying, I mean, if I knew, I would tell you. I'm sorry. But, like, it's been happening all night. I was just like, damn. But anyway, we ended up in, like, this random really niche...

rich neighborhood and I was like you know what I'm gonna open google maps so I opened google maps and I was like I know where to go so we ended up finding the entrance little to know that it cost $50 to watch these Christmas lights and Taylor and I look at each other we're like is it worth it I said yes I was like uh I mean our mental health kind of needs it so yeah let's do it I was on like a

I was like, we're doing it. Like, I've been sad today. And you're going to tell me I'm not going to go look at these Christmas lights? No, I'm going to look at the Christmas lights. Wait, let's backtrack a little bit because we didn't even mention the tacos. So I was like, let's go get food because neither of us wanted to cook. And Sam was like, no, what would we even get? And I was like, fresas. And she was like, oh my God, haven't had that in forever. Hell yeah. I was like, right? Tell me that's not so good. They have cauliflower tacos. You can make any...

taco, like, vegan, whatever. Yeah. It's a drive-thru taco place. So, like, we didn't even get out of the car. We sat there for, like, 30 minutes. Yeah, we were in the car all night for probably, like, two hours. Like, almost two hours. But anyway, we get there with our tacos in our laps. Like, I have them in the bag. Yeah.

And I go, Taylor, you know, while we're sitting here, like, I might as well, like, give you your tacos. Yeah. Like, I feel like they need to get the... We were driving around looking for the entrance for a while. Yeah. So we had, like, a while of being hungry because we sat in the drive-thru. Yeah. And drove around to find the entrance. So we were like, I'm hungry. Like, very hungry. And by the time I did open these tacos, they were, like, room temp. Like, they weren't even hot anymore. Cold. Order line and cold. Yeah. So I hand her her tacos and...

Her tacos weren't vegetarian. They were chicken. There was chicken in there. So...

I looked at her and I felt so bad. I was so hungry. I was like, you know what, Taylor? I'm so sorry, but I'm going to eat these. And she suffered through the entire experience of like the lights and stuff and didn't eat. I was like, eat it. I ate, they were double wrapped and I ate one of the tortillas because I fucking love a tortilla. But then I was like, fine. Like I wasn't that, I wasn't that hungry. And then, but it worked out because we did the whole lights. It was so cute. So fun. Loved it. Loved it. Christmas music on the radio. It was a really good time. There was a Santa Claus. Yeah.

Oh my God, this kid. Oh my God, yeah. This Santa Claus was so cute. It was like an old man. An old couple. Maybe they don't know each other. Wait, we shouldn't say this. Why? What's our demographic? What do you mean? It was Santa Claus. I don't know. What if my cousin listens to that? I don't know. Damn it. I'm the... That was... I was like, why can't we say that they... I didn't know what to say.

Okay, no, like legit Santa came from the North Pole and he sat there. And I rolled down my window and I go, I was screaming. I don't want to scream into the mic, but I'm like, Santa! Oh my God, Santa! And he was so cute. He had like a little mic on so you could like hear him because there was music playing and he was just waving, wiggling his feet back and forth on the big chair. Mrs. Claus is like knitting. Yeah, Mrs. Claus is knitting. And we pulled up. They looked so perfect. Yeah. Then I go...

damn, it's not even a real Santa. Like, I thought they were robots, like animatronics. But then he's like talking. And Sam's like, hi, Santa. And he's like, hello, Merry Christmas.

I wish you guys could have envisioned us actually doing this, or I wish I at least vlogged it, but I'm sorry. We are not going back there again. I don't think I'll pay $50 to do it again. Sam's like, maybe, I'm like, oh, we should have vlogged it. She's like, we can come back and do it again. She's like, it'll be $50. I'm like, we will not. Not be coming back. We could do the purple Christmas tree. That was a different lot, and I think you could just, like, get out and, like, go sit at it. But, um...

Yeah, no, that was a fun time. So we got to do that. And we didn't even get back until what, like eight o'clock? So late. So late. But then the next day, like Christmas vibes were immaculate the last few days because the next day I surprised Taylor with Christmas PJs and we went to the gym wearing them. So that was a lot of fun. That was so fun, but like no one cared. Yeah, no one really made eyes. Like we got compliments, but that was it.

People are used to it, like, with us, like, having cameras out. But it's the funniest vlog ever, so I highly recommend every single one of you going to watch it. I did a few things to, like, embarrass Taylor while we were in the gym, and then Taylor made a few funny faces. Like, it just, you have to watch it. It was really funny. But we had so much, like, a very self-care week. I deleted TikTok. Yeah, I haven't been on TikTok in a hot minute. Deleted it. I posted two things that I had to post ads, but I posted them and deleted that again. Yeah.

deleted the app we um decorated our apartment more because it was just unfinished yeah and it was like we need to feel more like at home here yeah we do like obviously we felt comfortable here but it needed to be like more homey and like finished i would say we're like 90 done we need a few more things yeah but other than that it's looking good and you guys if you guys want to see it because i know this is a podcast and so this is just a you know

This isn't a visual thing. If you want to see it, go look at our vlogs because we kind of logged that this whole week. But yeah, so that's been nice. And then we have obviously been off TikTok. I didn't realize how much work goes into making TikToks because we've been like doing a lot of focus on our podcast and YouTube.

And I feel like I've taken a little bit, a step back with like work and being so overwhelmed with work. Cause we've been going to the gym later. We used to go to the gym around like what? Like eight 30. Like leave here at eight 30. Yeah. And now we wake, we breakfast. We ate breakfast at eight 30. We're leaving around like nine, nine 30. So that's like an, like an hour being pushed back and then we get back and it's just, it's so nice. I don't know. With the amount of YouTube videos and the podcast, like we still do a lot of work. Like we have a lot of brand things. Yeah. Brand things are very,

very stressful because it needs to be done perfectly in a certain way. It's not like if I do a normal YouTube video, I can kind of pick and choose how I want it to be done and when to upload it. But when you're working with a brand, there's like deadlines. It's like schoolwork. It's literally like having a school project. So that's been like crazy. And then it's just like the holidays, like gifts and making sure everything's like just ready to go for going home. It's just hectic. So we're trying to just chill a little, like sleep in.

go shopping, go with Christmas lights, little things like that. And it's helped. Yeah. I've just had a lot of like small like errands to do, like literally every single day.

So it's like, it kind of all adds up. But another thing too, I wanted to say about like the sponsors and stuff, if you guys get a little irritated with those, which I mean, I don't blame you. Sometimes it may be annoying. You guys are more than welcome to skip past the first 30 seconds, 60 seconds of our YouTube videos to just get to the actual part of the video. But yeah, that's pretty much like another way we make our like source of income. So sorry if it becomes repetitive.

Yeah, but I mean we put out so much content that. Yeah. Sometimes I just feel like a. That was loud. Was it? I think I heard it really loud. That was her water bottle. But yeah, it's been a lot. We've been really grinding on our YouTube and obviously this podcast, but that's why we're not really on TikTok. And then we're both trying to like revamp TikTok.

Yeah. Instagram. That's facts. So I'm trying to post a little less because I want to really like, like what I post. And I feel like I was just like throwing up a photo every day just to throw up a photo. Yeah, me too. Like being like, took this self timer in the gym. Don't really like it. I need to post something and I don't, I don't want to do that. I like to, I want to like, like the photo.

photo like today I posted a little photo dump did you see it yeah I liked it I just commented on it like a 30 minute video I did a little like photo dump like something different like this is something you normally post yeah no I liked it I go I'm pretty sure I commented wow this was artsy of you I didn't even realize you were like doing that I was like walking around the whole apartment taking photos you didn't see me no well I mean I'm facing the freaking wall when I work no you were making food oh I was yeah we started making lunch and I was over there like

Oh, I did not notice. Yeah. Yeah, well, that's crazy. But yeah, other than that, we have about, today's the 9th. I go home in a little over a week, so. Yeah, a little over a week, and then we have one more week left of two episodes a week. Yeah. And then there'll be one episode, for the time being, we never know when it'll switch, but for the time being, for the sake of our minds. Yeah.

Because this is something we want to do long term. We don't want to burn out. Oh, heck no. Like, we don't want to get burnt out. Like, I'd rather do continuous episodes and be that person that stops. Yeah. Even if the episodes become longer now. We're not doing two a week now. Then maybe the episodes are longer. And you guys like that, so. Yeah. And I see us going back to two, like, at some point for something. Me too. It won't be, like, never again.

again. Yeah, it was fun. I've been liking it. Yeah, it is fun. It's also fun because we got to interview a lot of people. Yeah, get to know a lot of people. The twins on this episode, I don't think I ever would have spoke to them ever. Yeah, and it's really cool because even if you, when you guys do listen to this, we have a lot of similarities with the twins and it's pretty freaking cool. So I was like, damn, like after we hung up this, when we stopped recording with them,

Yeah.

play any type of sport you'll probably find it interesting just have people to relate to um we got to ask them a lot of questions and ask them a lot about you know like working with someone competing with someone that's like your friend they're yeah well they're twins yeah but that's something me and sam can relate on but yeah yeah hope you guys enjoy it all right guys now we are here with the cavender twins if you guys would like to introduce yourself i know we're not on um

What is it like? We don't have like the actual video going on right now, but they look exactly the same right now. They were wearing the same sweatshirts and everything. So yeah, just introduce you guys real quick. I'm Hannah and this is my twin, Hayley. And I'm Hayley. Yeah.

And then we are from Arizona. We both play basketball on Fresno State. So Fresno State's in California. And yeah, so we went and played college basketball together. That was like one of our dreams growing up. We just like fell in love with basketball, but we grew up in Arizona.

Cool. Yeah, no, it's, um, I didn't even realize Fresno state was in California. Did you do that? I guess I know Fresno is California. Yeah. I guess I really never put that together. Um, but yeah, that's awesome. Did you, so you guys said you grew up in California? No, we're Arizona, Arizona. Okay. No. So yeah, we were, we grew up in Arizona and then we just came out to California for basketball. Cool. I can imagine you guys travel probably so much with basketball. Yeah.

Yeah, it's a lot, especially during season. Where were you guys this past week? So we went to Berkeley. So we only had a drive. So it was like a three-hour drive this last week. And then from there, we played Cal Berkeley and St. Mary's. And then we just got home. But we've been on the road for like...

We, this is our first time home in like eight days. So it's, it's just like, Oh my God. Damn. All right. So for a little background information for the twins is they, I kind of found them through TikTok. I remember like over the summer, I think it was when you guys were making your videos like outside. I don't know if you guys were in the back of your house by a pool or something, but you guys were so tan looked alike. And I was just like, wow, these girls know how to dance. So I gave you guys a follow. And then I started to keep up with your like stuff on like Instagram and stuff like that.

I think it's so cool that you guys play D1 basketball together. So to kind of start off with like first few questions and start to get into it is, did you guys know when you guys first started together that you guys wanted to go to school and play together? Or did it just happen to work out that way?

Um, no, I think like from the start we played basketball together. So Hannah and I always were like, let's go to college and play basketball together and play at the same time. Um, so yeah, that was always the dream of ours to play division one basketball together. There was never really like, I thought like, I'm going to go my way. She's going to go her way just because that's like, I could never. Yeah, I know. I talked to like some twins too. And like some twins aren't that close, but we are very close. Like we enjoy doing the same things, like eating the same way.

and stuff like that. So it just like, when I talk to other twins, I'm like, how do you guys like not, cause I know twins that like, don't go to school together. And it's like, they live across the country. Yeah. But no, I feel like it's definitely like those two ways. Like it's where, like where at least I see twins that are literally how you guys are like everything you do together, or it's like complete opposite. Right. Right. It's like obviously the girls and the guys too, girl, guy, twins, which I don't know how they do it.

um yeah no I think it's pretty cool I think it's cool that you guys are like a package deal and I feel like that's where me and Taylor can relate with you guys too is like literally we're we're best friends but like I don't know we do everything together so we can kind of like relate but not in like the telepathic way except people online think that we're the same person yeah they definitely for some reason people think we look alike and I'm like

I don't think so. It's because they can't tell us apart. Yeah. Her first name's Taylor. And then my last name is Taylor. So sometimes they'll get that confused.

no yeah but it's like that's like the best though yeah and I think it's just like when I like meet somebody too it's like sometimes you need like your alone time but when I'm with like Haley like I can like that we have a good relationship I'll be like no like you need to go in your room you know like I need to like hang out like have me time oh my god we just have like after dinner we're both like all right going into my room

And then we leave for two hours and then we come out for like a snack and then we go back into our room. And from like six to like just the morning, we're like, all right, bye. You just like get it. Like you don't have to really explain or like feel bad. I'm like, no, dude, like I'm just going to go and do my own thing right now. You know? Yeah, exactly. That's exactly what it is. When did you guys, when did you guys start playing basketball? Like since you could walk?

I would say like probably in elementary school, we tried like every single sport out, but I think

dad like he played basketball in college too so I'm in my super athletic so they both did and then I think we just kind of naturally like went more towards basketball and so yeah then we just chose basketball because we couldn't play like different sports because they were the same season in high school so I feel like this is an important question because you guys play basketball but how tall are you guys

We're like five, we're not tall. Five, six. Probably. Really? Okay. Yeah. Like kind of our height. Yeah. I think we're like average for like females, but like in basketball, we're so short. Yeah. Really? How tall is the tallest person on your team?

Sydney is probably like six fives yeah like yeah yeah we look so small out there like sometimes we'll play versus like we played versus six seven girl and I was like holy cow like we look small my mom will take pictures and I'll be like holy cow yeah that's crazy oh my god I'm just like you guys I played pretty much every sport you can imagine besides basketball though

Yes. So I'm from New England and ice hockey is very big up there. So obviously ice hockey and basketball, like those, like kind of get in the way of each other. So I never played basketball, but everything else I played it. Yeah. I don't know. I didn't try ice hockey, but we tried ice skating. Yeah. That's what I started off with. I did ice skating and then I moved my way into ice hockey.

Let's get into it. Let's get into the important stuff because I know a lot of girls are looking for athlete advice and balancing and all that type of stuff. But how do you guys balance being a day one basketball player and getting into the gym? How does that look for you guys in season versus off season?

Um, so in season, we are lifting three times a week. So we have a strength and conditioning coach. And like we track how much muscle like they do. What is the thing called? Bod pod. So you know how much muscle you have on you. And then like if you're losing, you know, your lean mass and stuff like that. So we do a whole bunch of like, um, full body circuits, but we've mainly focused on legs for basketball. And then so we'll do that three times a week.

season. Um, and they definitely prioritize that. So like, I know some schools like won't, but our school does with weightlifting and then off season we're in there, um, five times, five times, five times a week. Yeah. Um, that's really important. Like I played D three. So I obviously cannot compare to like the money and like that type of stuff that goes into like, um, supporting athletes, but at least with D D three athletes, like we don't

I'm going to speak for my school. I know there are people that are probably listening that are like, no, I play D3 and like we do this. But for us, we didn't have anything, no lifts in season, no lifts outside of season. So I think one of the biggest things is like obviously weight training, no matter what it is in season, out season. I feel like that is very important when it comes to playing sports. So I'm happy to hear that you guys like get that, get that support. Yeah.

And I've seen, like, a huge difference, like, especially with, like, our – because we had a new weight trainer, and she just is, like, very, like –

knowledgeable and like what she's doing so we've seen a huge difference in our bodies like change like from freshman year when I was lifting compared to like now there's like a huge difference so and especially yeah when we go home like in the summer uh give you like a weight program like a summer workout plan so like they make sure you're on top of it which I like oh that's super I really wish I had like those resources like it makes me want to like like when I go back and like look at the way I went with

sports like I wish I tried to go d1 with it but it wasn't my biggest like priority like I my biggest priority was just like obviously like my degree and like being close to home but by the sounds of it like that sounds so much better in such a better like time in school with like balancing it all um

So, yeah, I don't know. What was I going to... Okay, the only experience I have being on a team and, like, doing... I danced all through, like, high school, like, competitively. And we did, like, the worst workouts. Like, all of us ate, like, garbage. And I'm just, like, to think of how much better, like, we would all be if someone gave us, like, a real, actual, like...

training program or workouts are like okay go run four miles and then come back and 50 squats and crunches and like lunges and then no one ate yeah that's all we did ever did you guys get like a lot of like do you guys do a lot of like cardio as well or is it yeah so this

Well, that was like, it's a huge emphasis in like preseason. So we have like conditioning. We'll do like conditioning in the morning for like four weeks straight. And then we'll have practice for two and a half hours and then right after practice, we like lift. So it's like definitely a grind preseason. But then as we get into season and like things get going, we don't really condition just because like,

we're in season, you know, so like our shape, our bodies and stuff are adjusting already. So we really don't need conditioning, but how long is your, sorry, how long is your preseason? Um, we start in July and then it's all the way up till November. So it's a little long. Yeah. Yeah. And it's like, yeah. I just put together how many months that is. No, like mine was only like two weeks long, three weeks. Right. And we would do like

So it was like, it depended on which one it was because I played field hockey and lacrosse. But like for field hockey, we would go back three weeks early and we would do like double and triple sessions. So like I was on the field, off the field, like up to like six hours a day. But wow, you guys had a long time span. That's crazy. Yeah, it's definitely. Basketball season is way too long. It's really long. Do you guys live at school too through the summer?

We don't live on campus, but like a lot of our team does. So, but I mean, it is close, but.

that's like really long because i'll talk to like some volleyball girls and other athletes like they'll get breaks like we don't get breaks it's not fun that's crazy do you guys want to kind of bring us through i know you guys do vlogs on this too on your youtube i was just about to say this i know i've watched a few of your guys's day in the life's and do you guys want to just like explain what like a day in the life for you guys like typically like in season looks for like for you guys

Okay. So in season, I would say we get to, we're all online. So our school, you can, I mean, they offered going back in person, but I mean, Haley just like to go online because I don't know if you guys heard of like the NIL, like where college, like athletes can make money now. I don't know if you guys have heard about that dropping in July, but just like with our schedule, we chose to go online. So like, we'll get up at like we're early birds. So we'll get up at like seven,

Do most of our homework just for that day. Then just make sure like check in with our agents, like make sure with the NIL thing. And then we have practice. So we'll go to practice from like 11 till, so we have practice for like a three hour slot. So just like on the court for three hours, we'll go like two hours, two hours and 15 minutes usually. And then right after that, we have a lift session from like till like an hour. And then when we'll get home, shower, do more homework.

Unless we have like a game or something, but that's like not if we have a game. Yeah. And I can imagine what it's like for you guys. Like if you guys have to travel during the week too. So that's, that's a lot. Was the making money thing with your guys' social media, was that like huge for you?

Yeah, I think it was like, well, we really didn't know, honestly, like we were knowledgeable and like, okay, if you have a following, like brands will want to work with you and stuff. Like we really never put those two together until like, like late June until our school started reaching out. Um, but yeah, I think it's really, really cool for all athletes. It's like,

we don't not everyone gets to go professional for like basketball or whatever especially like girls and so to be able to capitalize off right now I think it's like our peak you know our peak to work with companies so

I'm, I was really excited about it. I was excited for athletes too. Cause I, I didn't even put together that I had like, there's a few college athletes, a lot actually that are really, really big on TikTok and social media. And I was like, they have no way to dollar from this. Yeah. It's crazy. It was crazy. That's, that's insane. Especially because like,

A lot of athletes are, like, the typical, like, athletes that should be getting sponsors. You know what I mean? Like, whereas there's just, like, those, like, quote-unquote, like, influencers that, like, maybe are in and out of the gym every now and then, like, and they get all these, like, athletic sponsors. But it, like, for you guys, like, you guys live, breathe, like, basketball and athletics every single day. Yeah. So it is probably nice for you guys to get some sponsors, which I don't know. Do you guys have, like, pretty cool sponsors yet or –

Yeah, um, so we signed a deal with boost mobile July 1. It was really cool. So we had that was like our long one we just signed one with sleeper like the app. It's like with Do you guys make a tick tock about that? Yeah. I was gonna say I think I saw that too. And then who else?

We've done some non-exclusives, but yeah, Boost Mobile is our biggest. And then Sleeper. YouTube Shorts. YouTube Shorts. And yeah. That's so cool. That's so exciting. I know. So we obviously talked about like how you guys lift a lot of weights and stuff and do all that. What about like your like nutrition? Do they help you through that? Do they prepare you through that? Are you on your own?

Right. So we have a nutritionist, which is really helpful just because she'll go through like during the off season on what you should be feeling your body like, and then during season, like what your intake should be like. So it's been really cool to have that like resource. But yeah, honestly, Hannah and I are super into like nutrition and like lifting and stuff. So like

That's kind of how we knew about you guys, but yeah. Um, it's definitely good to have like that resource and she's like, you can go and meet with her, have meetings. She'll meet with you about like your bod pod results. Um,

And then we also have like a nutrition lounge that after like our practice before our lifts, like we get the right fuel, the right things in our bodies to have a successful lift. So definitely a great resource. Yeah. Yeah. That is really good. Like that makes me happy to hear because like, obviously there's a lot of like

a lot of other schools that don't necessarily get those resources. Do you guys feel like before like going into college, you guys knew enough or do you think you can like thank the nutritionists at your college for like the, um, like education you guys have now?

Um, I, um, I think going into it. So we actually like in high school, we actually lost like a lot of weight just because, um, we see all we see awful, like fried, um, buffalo chicken wraps, like galore, just like crazy. And, um,

So we kind of lost weight. We did the keto diet in high school, obviously. You can't really do that now if you're a college athlete, just because, like, you need fuel. So we did that. And then when we got here, we were like, holy cow, like, we can't do that diet. Like, it's not going to work, especially with how many calories you're burning. So she was really good with just, like, okay, these are the carbs you need to eat. Like, wrote it out for us. Because we were, like, scared to eat carbs. Like, yeah. Yeah, really. Yeah.

Yeah, it was because, like, keto was so popular. I think it still is, like, very popular. But, like, when we were in high school, like, our senior year, I was like, I just want to try this. And then, like, I got, like, into it, and I kept seeing results, but it's just, like, not sustainable, especially for, like, a college athlete, let alone a human. But, um, so, and then when we got here, like, I really, uh...

strict on like you need to go to the nutritionist and like just you know feel your body the right way to be successful on the court and so Hannah and I always like have been that's been like a really big focus so yeah that's really good what does I mean if

Like you don't mind like what does some of that look like like the meals because I know a lot of girls are in the same scenario of like feeling like now they play a sport or something like maybe he's you know in high school you can get away with it you're young it's not as serious but then they make this transition into like having actually serious intense sex.

lifts and practice and games where you can't not eat and eat like crap or be scared of food. And I don't know, like, what does that look like for you? Like you say, they give you meals after like you practice and stuff. Like, what does that look like?

Um, so like, obviously, they'll, so we do like, it's called training table. So they'll go pick up food for us. Um, some of the like, I mean, not everyone is going to eat healthy. I think it just like depends. It's personal preference. But I think just speaking for me, and like Haley obviously agrees, it's like, on the court, like if I go if I eat, like something that's like,

I don't know, like really processed, like heavy before a game. Like I can definitely feel like how I feel like when I'm playing, like I will not like that feeling whether, rather than if I like ate something like more of like a chicken, you know, like sweet potato and then like some greens, like I'd feel, I feel so much better. But I think just like, they just make sure that you're like really getting a lot of protein in and then like a good carb and veggies. Like that's what we try to do. So.

yeah, I mean, they're, they're, they educate you, whether if you want to take it or not. Yeah, it's, like, so weird to, like, look, I graduated in 2020, I, I don't know if you guys knew that, but, um, so I'm a little bit older, but, um, when I was in school, I didn't have, like, a nutritionist or anything like that, and I feel like for a lot of girls, the biggest struggle in, like, in, like, maybe D2, I don't know how D2 is, to be honest, but, like, at least D3, like,

the biggest struggle is the nutrition aspect and like under eating and like, end up like developing like eating disorders and stuff like that. And like, I, me personally, that's what happened with me. And I know there's a lot of girls out there with those similar situations. So like, basically what I'm saying, like what I'm asking is like, what is your biggest advice in terms of the nutrition aspect? If these girls don't have a nutritionist?

I would just say, like, listen to your body, honestly, just understanding, like, your body. If you're hungry, like, you need to eat. Like, I know before a game, like, I have to have the proper nutrition to perform at my best. So, like, I always take it in that route. Like, what am I putting into my body to be successful on the court?

Exactly. Yeah. That's my biggest advice. Yeah. I like that. Like what you're putting into your body is like definitely going to help and benefit the way you perform on the field. When I underrate so badly, like

it was very bad but I would be on the field and I would literally be like my head would be nauseous I would be like near like throwing up but I would think it like in those instances I was like oh my god like I'm gonna like almost throw up because like I'm running so much or like our coach is running us to the ground where in reality it was just because I was not like fueling my body properly um so yeah did we touch on the um um

Like traveling? You said that, right? No, but I was going to say like with the eating and performance, like we feel the same way. Like just when it comes to the gym, like we say like traveling and going home is so hard, not because like we're going to overeat or like gain weight, but because we're probably going to undereat and our lifts are going to be shit, which is like so frustrating. Because like if I'm not eating like in my routine and enough and like a good pre-workout meal, I'm going to perform like horrible. Yeah.

And that's why anyone that like is like, oh, I'm doing weights, sports, anything. And they're like, I'm not seeing like, I don't feel good. I'm not seeing progress. I'm like, what are you eating? Like literally what are you eating? Cause you can't make like sports.

lifting, any type of physical activity, if you're not eating enough, like there's no point. Especially being a college athlete too. Like not only, I'm sure you guys are probably walking a lot or maybe not because you guys don't live on campus, but like people that maybe do live on campus, like probably walk a lot and they have like all their lifts, their practice, like all that stuff. You're also homework, like the mental energy to be doing like schoolwork all day. That like drains you. Yeah, it does. I don't think people realize that that,

that drains you too on top of like the physical where like you said, you're working from seven in the morning. Yeah. Yeah. Screen and stuff's like, sometimes like you're like, holy cow. Yeah. When does your days typically end? Honestly, my homework schedule, like we were majoring in the same thing, but I try to knock it out. Like that's why I would rather get up early because then afterwards, like I come home, I shower, I make dinner and just like relax and like do the things that like I like. So, I mean, we're like done by five.

Right? Yeah, that's not bad. We're kind of like the same way. Like we'll have dinner. Like, like, it's a lot. I love that, though, because that's like a no, like, there's no excuses. Like everyone wants to say that they're like too busy to do things. Yeah. Like everyone else say that she was too much homework. They can't go to the gym. Like they weren't. It's like,

you can like you'll figure it out if you want like you can get up earlier you know what I mean like sometimes like I'll be talking to like some people that are just like like regular college students and stuff and they'll be like I'm just so busy like I can't like work out or like even like sometimes just like

And sometimes I'll be like, you can work out. Like, you can work out. You're just choosing, like, an excuse. Yeah, you're like, I had four hours of practice this morning in a game at night. Like, you're okay. You're like, you're fine. It's always the people, though, that they're like, oh my god, I was up till 3am studying. And you're like, well, what time did you start? And they're like, 10. And you're like, well...

yeah we do that early and like knock it out like I'm just like that's how I'm like can we have to get up early and do something let's just do it yeah that's yeah I like that you guys have like each other too like if one of you doesn't wake up you could like go over and get out of bed yeah we like hold each other accountable yeah it's like the biggest thing it's like is it just you two that live together in your apartment yeah so we lived um with our other teammates freshman year but like

you know, like you're with your team like 24/7. Like you don't get a break. So like I just found it way better like just to come home. Like obviously Haley's on my team, but she's like my twin. But like just to come home and like, you know, take a second away from the team. Just because like, not that I don't love those girls, but it's just like, you need some space. - Yeah, you definitely do. Right. Do you guys, I didn't put this like on like the kind of outline of everything, but do you guys have, like do you guys enjoy like a nightlife in school in season or no?

Yeah. Um, during season, it's a little harder just because it's like, you're, I'm like so tired by the time I get home. I'm just like, no, like I'm literally just talking about this. Yeah, bro. Like I'm just like, not about it. Like it has to be the right, you know, right plan. So yeah, no, we totally agree. Cause the episode before this on Monday, we talked all things, um,

FOMO. And like we were talking like if we're busy, busy, busy, like the last thing we really want to do is be going out. Right. Like the whole process of getting ready. Yeah. It's draining. It just adds into like the like tiredness. There's no way I could be doing practice like that and go out at night. I truly don't think I could do it. Yeah. And it has to be like sometimes

Sometimes I'm just like, no, I just don't want to deal with people. Like, I just don't want to do it sometimes. Like some people are just like too much, but like, I love like getting ready and like going out. It's just like, if you have a game and you're just like, okay, I don't feel like I got, I just want to put like hoodie and a sweats on chill. Yeah. Yeah. When you guys are traveling, do you guys, sorry, this is going like a complete one 80, but like, do you guys, when you're traveling ever feel like your nutrition is just absolute shit and it kind of like plays with affecting your performance for your game?

Right. So this year we've been way better because we'll like go to the grocery store when we get somewhere and like, okay, I'm going to be consistent, like, you know, with my fruits or something, but yeah.

Definitely. I think I'm like super big on like consistency and like what I eat throughout the day. So like, kind of like how you're saying, like when you go home and stuff and it's like you're under eating or something, like that's how I am when we're like traveling. It's like, oh my gosh, like what am I going to eat? I don't even know if I'm going to like this food or if it's like going to make me feel good. So it's definitely been something like we've been way more focused on. Yeah. Like they'll bring snacks and stuff, but like their snacks are just like, they're just like granola bars that I should not be eating. Yeah.

we'll like go to the grocery store um before like to get the snacks we want you know just like just like planning ahead yeah just like putting it but definitely plays a role though what's the longest like bus ride you'll ever be on i know you said the like this past week it was three hours but like do you guys ever go on bus rides longer than that or would you fly

Um, we fly like a ton, but the longest one we went on was like, we got stuck in traffic. It was like 12 hours on Thanksgiving last year. It was the worst day of my life. Yeah. Yeah. We don't get to go home for Thanksgiving. It sucks. I think the longest for me has only ever been like four hours, but even then it's horrible. Cause like, I don't know if you guys, do you guys ever, um, like when you guys finish a game, do you guys just hop right back on the bus and like head back home? Or do you guys spend the night?

That is the worst because I'm like post game. So hungry, like so gross, so tired. And just like the last thing I want to be doing is sitting on a bus with like gross ass food. I don't know. Oh, I've done that. It's, I don't know how you guys do it with like your nutrition. Like,

being on a bus but when when I was in school we literally had to go pick up a um cooler from the dining hall and it would just have like PB&Js and like turkey sandwiches and like clementines yogurt skaterades it was the worst thing ever I don't think I ever took like my meal from that cooler I would always just bring my own thing um trying to like stay on my own nutrition but four bus rides was like that look for you guys I know you said you guys pick up foods but

Does that like get you through the bus ride?

Um, yeah. So like, they'll always get you food after your game. So like we do training tables. So like, they'll like on the way home yesterday, they got cheesecake factory. So like they order orders online and then they'll pick it up and I'll be on you. So, I mean, they're, they're not that bad. Yeah. But that sounds really good. Like I'm kind of jealous. This is so when I danced in high school, we'd have to go like, I'm from Miami and we'd go to Orlando. So it's like three and a half hour drive, maybe four, if there's like a lot of traffic.

And we would get to Orlando and like one day we'd wake up, like if it was a day of competition, wake up at like, we'd have to be up honestly, maybe like 4 a.m. Like, cause we'd all have to get our hair done. It's like 30 of us and one girl would do our hair. So we had hair appointments from literally like 3 a.m. So you're like, someone's knocking on your door in the middle of the fucking night. Like you need to get your hair done. You're like, okay. So you go get your hair done. Then it's been 3 a.m. You've been up for hours. Drink a bang. Done.

Duh. And then you're dancing. Then we have rehearsal. And then you're dancing until awards are at midnight.

So you're up for like almost 24 hours. I literally spent the whole day in the convention center with a jar of peanut butter and those pretzel chips. Oh, God. And was just eating pretzels and peanut butter the whole day. And I just can't believe looking back on it that I did like almost 24 hours of just straight physical activity of pretzels. Pretzels and peanut butter. And a bang. Maybe like another energy drink. I'm like living like through your guys' like college experience with sports.

sports like so badly. I think it's so crazy like what you guys can get. I think it's so cool and obviously you guys deserve it but I do think that literally like D3 needs a little bit better like resources. Yeah,

it's the same grind like yeah everyone's putting in work you know yeah obviously like in terms of like money going towards the school we're probably not bringing as much money to the school but yeah hey like you got to do what you got to do for your athletes in order for them to perform properly and it sucks but hey what are you gonna do I um wanted to like

kind of circle around to like the social media aspect? Because obviously you guys are huge on social media and it's like, how did that affect the way people like viewed you at all or like took you seriously or maybe people like, you know, thought negatively of you because you got social media followers? I think like just off the court, I'll talk like before on the court. I think just like people sometimes will

just, like, view you as somebody on social media. I don't know if you guys can relate to this, but, like, we're, like, so much different. Like, not different, obviously, like, YouTube, you can see your personalities, but, like, on TikTok and stuff like that, like, I feel that people really, like, will just, like, judge you based off, like, your, like, just that, you know? It's, like, oh, everyone of us. Don't even get us started. No, I'm sure you relate, like, everyone relates. Like, it's, like,

you don't even know me like don't judge me based on a like I don't know how to explain it like it it bothered it bothered me so much like more than Hannah like I would be like these people like don't even know us and they're just like haters or whatever you know what I mean we all get it but

honestly not anymore like I honestly I don't even try to look at like TikTok comments first of all because they have like no sense of humor absolutely like not TikTok is like the worst app in terms of like judgment and just not knowing someone and just taking like a very small thing and blowing it out of proportion and that's going into like saying like

I don't understand why people will judge if you've never met in person, you know what I mean? Like making small comments or like just judging off of like something they've seen, you know? Yeah, it's like they're so quick like even like yeah like they're so quick like like we struggle because they'll be like oh my god this one's so much hotter. I'm like oh my god like chill like you guys look exactly the same. But it's just like anything people just judge your body like all that. Oh yeah

I don't know why I get judged so much on my body. It's like crazy. I'm like all the time. It's like actually ridiculous. It's like, it's insane. It's like what in,

I used to get a lot of like when I was like stick thin I used to get a lot of like oh my god you look sick like and I'd be like oh that's great like that's amazing like I just like thank you I just want like it's like hard for me because I'd be like I would never do that even if I didn't have a fault like I find I have a following I'm like how do these people like comment these things yeah so it's it's it's bad and even to the point I know you said like off the court but like

Is there anyone that you know, like people that actually have like, like actually real life people, not just like user one, two, three behind a keyboard and like, she's harder than you. Like actual like real people that have like made judgments about it. Cause I can imagine. I think that,

I think like definitely on the court this season too. I feel like a lot of people just like want to let us know. Like, I'm like, okay, I get it. Like I'm a TikToker, but I'm also a basketball player, you know? So it's like, but I think a lot of people will just like come for us more. They take it more personal. I just like laugh at it because I'm just like, okay. Yeah. And I think it doesn't change anything, but you guys can have whatever you want. Like the comments. Yeah. It doesn't help too. Cause like,

at least for me, when I was on the field, anytime I stepped onto the field, I was an instant like bitch right away. Like it's game mode. Like I, if you're my opponent, I'm not going to be nice to you. Like, that's just how I am on the field. Like I'm very competitive. So like, obviously I've been out of sports for a really long time, but like, I'll even get like those like people from behind, like the keyboard being like, I played against you like in college, whatever, like you were so like mean on the field. I'm like, because I was on the field, like I'm,

Trying to be like in the zone mean like wanting to like destroy your team like that's it. So, yeah.

I think it's just funny because I can definitely relate to you guys on that end. I think it's also sometimes with something like, obviously you guys play a sport, like we go to the gym and like, we like, like we live for real. Like we'll put up like impressive numbers, like people just because you have a social media following or like dance on TikTok sometimes they're like, oh really? Like I can imagine, like I've gotten comments. I don't know if you have like, really like this is who we're letting like, like be in like fitness, like be in the gym. Like, or people are like, oh really? Like you guys like,

play basketball but you just like dance like I feel like not taking it directly because you're just normal girls who like to use TikTok like I literally posted a dancing video on my backup account and they're like are you serious like this is who we're letting like be like fitness but I'm like I can't dance and be into the gym like why can't I post it on my second page not even my like real page I was like I just wanted to do a dance like yeah like why is it mean seriously

Yeah. That's like the one thing TikTok takes everything like so serious. Like,

it's crazy I think we'd like make this all stronger like mentally I'm just like okay you know what like let these people have it yeah it's like genuinely one of the worst apps but literally um we all love it yeah no I know I kind of skipped over this at the beginning and I kind of wanted to touch on this how do you guys like deal with like like competition between one another do you guys like are you guys competitive against one another or are you guys like really good when it comes to that type of stuff

Um, yeah, so we're definitely very competitive, just like in general competitive people on, but I think just like, since we played together for so long just like learning to understand like

each other's strengths and weaknesses like on the court has helped us so much like obviously we are really competitive but like we're very supportive of each other like I'm her biggest fan or what so like obviously like I can say stuff to Haley like on the court or you know just like sister fights in general but like if somebody else is like to say something to her I'm like so quick you know yeah I feel like that we are too we don't really fight like no we don't fight but like

like, I'm not, if it puts, like, a fire under my fuel, like, or under my ass, what the hell is that phrase, when, like, she does, like, really fucking good in the gym, because then it's, like, it makes me want to do really good in the gym. I would never, ever, like, compare my, like, weight or something, like, in terms of, like, lifting to, like, that type of stuff, and, like, we also, like, hype each other up, too. Also with social media, like, I feel like a lot of people think, I mean, you guys, like, share accounts, so that's,

Like, dope. Because you guys are, like, one... And we're, like, slowly morphing into being, like, one... Yeah. Like, one social media page with, like, this podcast. Yeah.

But I think a lot of people might think that we like, I've gotten comments like, do you fight if like one of you gets a deal and the other doesn't and whatever? And it's like, I mean, one, we happen to get a lot of the same brand deals. So it's like not that big of a deal. But it's also like you doing good like helps me because we work together. So like if you get more followers, like the podcast would get more followers. Like I'd probably get more followers. Like if I get more followers, they'd probably go to you. Like it's not, it's...

It's like you got to realize you're helping each other. Yeah. I know you guys are family. If one of you does... Not that you both won't, but let's say one of you did so well. That's good for both of you. Yeah. Right. I think just like we're like really... We don't even know how much we hold each other accountable. I kind of like how you like... If Hannah's going super, super hard and I'm like slacking or something, I'm like, I need to pick up my end. Do you know what I mean? Yeah, exactly. It's really...

funny to see and hear like you guys do the same thing even though you guys aren't twins but yeah no if we like if we're like using if we're like sharing like a cable machine or something and like she goes first and she puts it on a weight and I was gonna do it later it's like oh I guess I'm doing this like I wouldn't have

put it on that but i'm not gonna move it so we're just gonna try and like like if hannah's going to get extra shots up and i'm like oh my gosh i do not want to get up like i'm still gonna go do it you know what i mean yeah like i have everything so yeah that's funny i love that like we can like you as your twins and like we can totally like really well i think it's relating on the level of like someone you live with and spend all your time with yeah because we like it's like very common interest too yeah like you guys like they did in the gym and stuff so

Yeah, and you guys basically work together. Yeah. So, yeah, similar because we work together and you guys, sorry I should have asked this earlier you guys are juniors right.

yeah yeah okay okay so you're my age yeah so um you guys have like another year and then you're gonna go from there I'm not even gonna get into that whole other topic of that because that could probably go on forever but um I guess we can kind of like finish off with like talking about like the mental aspect of being balancing like classes playing a sport social media like all that do you guys ever have like mental struggles with any of that yeah I think uh

like mental health and especially it's so prevalent in like college sports, just like with the pressure and everything. Um, and I'm not going to say like the pressure of social media and like being a division one athlete and like people knowing you and trying to perform, like you have to be like mentally tough. And like, I've definitely had my moments just like hand has like, Oh my gosh, moments of weakness. But, um,

I think just like last year was like probably one of the lowest years just for us because um obviously COVID like it affected everybody like crazily but um for us but like there was no fans like I didn't get to see like my I'm like very close to like all my sisters at home too because I have three other sisters and a we we have three um

but like didn't let fans come to games. Like I barely got to see my family. We didn't get to go home for the holidays. And I think just like being in that and like being so isolated, like that's when mental health like was starting. And I, that's when it started to affect me. I was like, oh my gosh, like I need, like basketball isn't my whole life, you know? And like, I think mentally, like just kind of,

like journaling taking like time for yourself to like really like what what's gonna make me feel good um putting your phone down like has helped me like tremendously so i think just like

Like Haley said, like it's obviously like everybody goes through like mental issues, but I'm glad that like mental health is way more looked at serious now than it was. So yeah, it definitely is because I mean, I honestly haven't like really struggled with those types of things until like recently. And, you know, I didn't, I didn't think like looking back, like maybe two years ago, not many people really like talked about it on like social media and stuff like that. So I really like, like,

being able to, like, have these conversations and, like, make it more normal because sometimes people can, like, look up to bigger people on social media and just think, like, oh, they got no mental struggles. There's nothing that, like, bothers them or anything like that where it's, like, it's nice to be able to say that, like, we are going through it just as much as the next person. Like, there's no differences. If not more. Yeah, if not more. So...

Yeah. Do you guys get any like obviously to like support systems from that too with playing a sport in school or no? Yes, you can. Like we have a counselor on campus. So we have like a sports trainer, but then you can go to like a mental health counselor. So you definitely can find help if you want it, but.

like even outside of sports like with social media like not that it's not a blue skies but like mental health like I never realized like mentally like I have to stay off the apps like if your video blows up or something and like you look at the comments and stuff that stuff can like eat you up so like I'm so glad I do it and I'm like sure you guys like have each other like talk about because it's like sometimes I'm like holy cow like it's a lot you know I was literally right before we recorded this we were like kind of going through it like um

for that reason, like, it was, like, one of those things where, like, okay, we need to pick ourselves up, like, we need to, like, get this interview done, like, we can't, like, like, it's been a little tough online recently, and I literally was, like, I think I may need to delete that. Yeah. And if I want to make TikToks, like, make them on, like, a burner account that, like, does not me, just make them, and then send it to someone and be, like, can you post this on my account for me, like, give them my login and be, like, post this, and just never check my notifications, ever. Yeah.

No, like it literally can like eat you up. Like, I don't know how many times I've deleted my Instagram and TikTok account. Like, you know, how many times have we like...

it's just crazy to like talk to you guys and like think because it's like it's draining sometimes sometimes i'm like no i don't care you know like through the social media influencing like i'm just gonna have like a happy life you know i literally just said this like legitimately when did we start this like 45 minutes ago 45 minutes ago i was like i was like dude sometimes i'm done i'm so done that's why i don't understand how people um are so quick to be like i want to be an influencer i'm like do you

like, think about it, like, think about it long and hard, like, and there's, like, so much work, like, that goes into it, like, because you guys, like, YouTube, TikTok, like, and the podcast, so I think it's just, like, there's so much work that goes into it, and sometimes it's, like, the payoff is, like, oh, hate comments, you know, yeah, like, you're doing this because you're trying to, like, have a positive platform, yeah, and, like, try to help people, but it's, like,

you know, there's also like, or like, there's some like, the good is good, but it's good when it's bad. Oh, like it's bad. Yeah. I can't even imagine what people would say about you. Yeah. Like, I literally can't even imagine. I'm like, what do you do? You go to college and play basketball? Like, God forbid. Like, I'm like, what do you get? It's like the worst thing ever. I'm like, relax. It's just, everyone's always gonna have something to say though. But like, that's what I love, like doing it with Hannah or like,

And I can like talk to her about it like every single day, like no matter what, like, cause she knows what I'm going through type of thing, you know, just like you two, like you guys compete. So that's really kind of why we moved in together. Cause we were like, we couldn't be in a situation. I think people can relate to this, like to anything. If you're in a situation that you feel like no one else like relates to you on, like you need to like, yeah, like jump to find like just that one person, like one person will help so much. It's like why we moved in. Cause I was at home alone on my computer all day. And then I try to tell people they're like,

oh, but like what they just like don't get it. Yeah. You don't understand because like I'll tell someone about a hate comment or something like it doesn't matter. I'm like, okay, I get it. But like it does matter. I'm like, I get it. Like it's like it has like 300 likes and it's bothering me. And people are just like,

haters I'm like why don't you get it yeah yeah that's hard that's like the hardest thing when you like you're trying to like you're going through it but like the only person like only maybe one person understands like because even my mom I'll talk to her about it and she'll be like like it's okay just like stay off of it I'm like you can't stay off of it it's like it's it's like I'll stay off of it then I go back on it yeah because you're curious too you're like yeah what did someone say I feel so attacked I know I was literally just looking at it yeah I know but um

Yeah, so I guess this was like a really good podcast. I feel like we touched base on so many different ends of like everything, but to kind of wrap it up, what would be your biggest advice for anybody that is trying to go and play, you know, not necessarily D1, but just play college sports anywhere?

Oh, mine would just be stay consistent. If like you really have like a dream and for something just like be consistent and like show up each day to work towards those because I think hard work will pay off. Yeah, I would say basically the same thing. Like if you're really motivated about doing something and obviously going to play a college sport is like a lot of people's dreams. So if you're motivated and you work towards that every single day, just like don't question yourself. Always believe in yourself, even if like other people are telling you something different.

Yeah. And I feel like they can literally be applied to so many different things. Because we always, every time we're with anybody at the end of our podcast, they're always like, so like, what's your advice for this? And people are just like, be consistent and like really try hard. And we're like, okay, same advice for everything. And we're like, guys, if you haven't gotten it by now, moral of the story is if you want to do something, just freaking stick with it and do it and start with it and be consistent and don't look back. Like everyone says the same thing for any topic. Yeah.

I like that a lot. Any topic at all. All right. Well, guys, thank you so much for coming on to our episode. What was this? FMS week...

seven or six i don't know but um we're doing six okay so you guys were our sixth um podcast guests of our little f miss um holiday thing so that was a lot of fun so thank you guys and then we will have all of their instagram handles and everything plugged um down in the description so definitely check that out yeah and that's what you guys share on instagram or do you only have they have separate ones we have a shared one too we have separate and then one shared yeah it doesn't matter okay

Okay, well, you can go either Instagram, I guess. Both Instagrams will be down below, and then you can go comment on their post that you were from the podcast, so that way we can all see it. Because we like doing that. We like seeing in the comments how many people have to go see and say it. So be on the lookout for that on Friday. But, yeah, I guess we'll end it out here. Bye, guys. Thank you. Bye. ♪♪♪
