I'm Barry Weiss. This is Honestly. Gee, that's a good question. That's a good question. I don't think I've actually been asked that question before. That is an enormously complicated and broad and open question, but I think it also is the right way to start.
I believe that we are living through a transformational, maybe even a revolutionary moment in American history. There are huge changes afoot in this country, and a lot of them are ones we can't quite see or describe. The model of the 21st century is there is no model. Changes in what we know and how we know it. We are at the very beginnings of the tremendous transformation from the industrial world to something that doesn't even have a name yet.
Changes in the way we think about who we are. What do you do with yourself when you find yourself like a cornered animal? Changes in the way we look for love. When I first started doing sex work, I had no idea that men wanted this because I had been fed this story that just meant want tits and ass. Changes in the way we feel. We all live with this vague sense that Americans are just living through a social crisis.
I want to understand why. In parts of the left and parts of the right, what we're essentially having is a kind of a fundamentalist religious awakening. I want to make sense of this moment. We argued a lot. They argued with me. I argued back with them. If you're not willing to die to be free, you won't be free. Leave the talking points and the outrage to other people. is tell the truth. You get knocked down, you get knocked flat on your ass, you get back up. There will be change. That's the one thing that's guaranteed. Guys, wake up please. The whole world is changing and we have to stay united and together. Let's disagree. We have to disagree with each other from here till tomorrow. It's healthy. It's not just about restoring broken institutions.
