Americans' confidence in the military is at its lowest level in over two decades.

Military recruitment has been suffering as well, with the Army, Air Force, and Navy each expecting to fall short of their recruitment goals this year.

These troubling trends come at a time of growing tensions with China grow, as well as increased instability in multiple regions around the world.

Earlier this week, FOX News Correspondent Alex Hogan spoke with Florida Republican Congressman Michael Waltz on the FOX News Rundown about both the recruitment problem and why he says Americans are losing trust in the U.S. military.

The former Green Beret discussed his perspective, what he thought pentagon officials and lawmakers could to do to strengthen the U.S. armed services at a time it is facing what he calls the "greatest threats" in America's history

Congressman Waltz also reacted to a congressional forum held earlier this week where several Gold Star families -- who lost loved ones during America's 2021 exit from Afghanistan - called for accountability and shared their pain and disappointment.
