Welcome back to this week's episode of Unlocked and y'all I have a treat for you today because we have had the best time and Briley just got here like five minutes ago but let me introduce Briley King. Welcome. Thank you for having me. I'm so excited. I'm just happy to have you. Y'all Briley, so for people that don't know, she is like everyone in Nashville knows her. She has like just the coolest spirit and vibe and

has a hat company and I see your hats on everyone. They're everywhere. They are. Okay. And tell, tell us about your hats. Oh my God. Where to start? Um, first of all, quite an intro. Thank you. I love you. You're gonna make me cry. I love you. I mean, I grew up watching you. Um, so I'm just excited to be here and thank you for having me. The, the hats, they are everywhere. It's like kind of exploded. I know. Like I was not expecting. And, um,

- Yeah, I'm a one woman show, so.

I'm employee of the month every month, and I don't even know where to start with the hats because it's just grown so much. But, you know, the inspo behind it was basically we're on the road all the time, and I can't wash my hair. You know, there's not a shower at every venue. There may not be a shower on our bus. You know, never know when I can wash my hair, and that is tragic. Oh, yeah. I'm just putting on Marcus's trucker hats.

every night, it doesn't matter if I'm wearing a ball gown, I just was putting a trucker hat on. And then it got to the point where I'm like, I need to do my own thing. I need to have my own creative outlet. And so Little Bird was born and Marcus was my inspo. So Little Bird, Little Bird Trucking, Little

they're like like you said you would throw it on with a ball gown like it's they're so cute and I'm excited y'all because she brought them to me and y'all know I will wear a hat every day if I could like every day same so I love that and now that we got into that because I didn't

I wanted to be very cautious going into this that like you are your own person. Yeah. You have built a business yourself. You've done all these things, but like you are not your husband. You're not like his story or anything like that. Like you're your own person, but obviously he is an important part of your life. Yeah. Very. And so tell people kinda, where do you want to start with your story? Actually, let's go there.

Gosh, I mean, where to start? Because there's so much buildup to my husband and so much backstory.

All right, let's start. Where are you from? There's so many things. So I'm from middle of nowhere in North Carolina, about an hour from the coast. It's called Kentston, North Carolina. If you know where East Carolina University, ECU is, I went to college there. And so 30 minutes down the road, didn't go far and graduated from there, moved to Raleigh, went to Charlotte. Now I'm here. Okay.

it's been a long, weird journey. This is like not how I projected life to go. You know, like I was before I met Marcus was working at a bank, you know, corporate desk job. No way. No, you are not. This bitch was running meetings. Like who let her, who gave her the WebEx password? You know, who gave her the link to share? I don't know, but stop it. Yeah. So I,

I was just cruising through life and Marcus slid in my DMs, hit me with a fire emoji. Stop. No, he did not. And my life changed overnight. How did he find you? I had gone, it was my 30th birthday. Okay. And I had gone on...

a rampage like you would do for your 30th birthday. Well, some girls are like, it's my birthday week. It's my birthday month. Like, yeah, that's, that was the case for me. So I was on a rampage and part of that rampage was, um,

a Marcus King concert he was playing with uh I don't even know who he was with but anyway went and I'm just in the back on the lawn you know laid back it's like my girlfriend and I are hitting our pin we're just watching the planes go by I don't know a thing I know one song stop well two actually I knew two songs and one of them won't even hiss and so um

That's amazing. Laid back and I'm like, yeah, I'm at the Marcus King concert. Like nobody gives a shit. And then I wake up at 5 a.m. and I got a fire emoji and a real Marcus King liked your photo. Real Marcus King liked your photo. Real Marcus King liked your photo. So he went on a like and rampage. Yeah, I'm like, he wants me bad. He wants me bad. So I did.

I'm up at five something randomly. I don't know why I woke up, but I text my girlfriend, Erin. I'm like, you ain't never going to believe who just slid in my DMs. Real Marcus King. I love calling people by their usernames. That's amazing. Just slid in my DMs. And he was like asking me to go to dinner and this is in July and the dinner. He was like, how about would August 10th work? And I'm like,

A month from now? No, I may be married. I don't know what I'm going to be doing. You know, like... Exactly. Like, don't ask me to commit that far to that. Right, right. I don't even, you know, I don't even know what I was doing at your concert last night because I was...

You know, probably in a bush somewhere after where I don't know. So no, I can't go on a date with you in a month. First of all, I don't go on. I would never go on a dinner date. No, that is the worst. Why people are like, hey, when I was dating, like before I met my boyfriend. Yeah.

meet for a drink or like coffee. Like I'm not committing. I learned the lesson the hard way. I went on a dinner date with a guy from a dating app and I wanted to go drive my car off into the Cumberland river. Like it was terrible. So after that, I was like, Nope, never again. Same. Well, I I'm like,

eating off the kids menu with my fingers I don't need to be on a dinner date with nobody like I just dinner is not it for me but I will tell you if you ever get in that situation again hibachi a Japanese steakhouse is the place to go if you are forced into a dinner date what because the entertainment is right in front of you they're flipping the steak and the onions and the zucchini and mixing it all together and the rice is so good you ain't got time to talk you know but

But because you got to, there's, here's a shrimp flying your way. You got to catch it. You know, that is your piece of advice for today. If you've got to do dinner, you got to do hibachi. Okay. So he asked you to dinner on the 10th, a month from then. And what did you do?

You were like, no. I was like, no, I'm sorry. I cannot. I can't commit to that. And, you know, I'm like, I've never dated a guy with like long hair tatted up. Like they're usually pretty clean cut. Like I don't even know. You're a banker. Yeah. Well, essentially in finance, in the IT department. But I'm like, how would I even bring this thing home to my parents? You know, like, I don't even know. But.

What the hell? You know, I've been going for the same type every time. Let me dip my toe here. So I wind up at his concert in Raleigh the next night. I was headed that direction to drop my dog off to my parents. And girlfriend goes to concert with me. He leaves me two tickets. And oh, my God, I've never been so flustered in my life. You know, I'm just gearing up to meet this guy who's been so sweet to me all day. I mean, sweet talking me. How's your day, darling? I'm like.

who is this? And why is he being nice to me? You guys, I ain't, I really ain't had a good look in the department. Yeah. Okay. Ain't been great. So this guy's being really nice to me and I'm like, all right, I'll just, you know, go see what he's about. And, uh,

what end of the night? He's like, can I kiss you? I'm like, let's make out, you know, hats knocked off and I'm in love. I'd never met anyone like him in my life. So it was just like a dream. I, I don't even know how to like dumb it down. It was just so like magical. Well, I'm telling you, you guys on social media, I'm like, Oh my God. Like,

Like I was just going on a full stalking rampage on both of you. And I was like, this is the sweetest thing ever. It's probably tragic on my end. It is. He's got somebody running his. I'm just out here floating around just posting. I love that story, though. It's so funny because my boyfriend and I met for the first time. Well, I slid in his DMs and then we...

we met for the first time at the Morgan Wallen concert in Boston. Nice. Yeah. And I was like, literally from the moment we saw like, and I'm not one to like, you know, be all over you or touch you or like, it's going to take me a while to get there. Same. But I was like, fricking glue. It was like Velcro. Like you were playing that game and like, I was like, what has gotten into me? Same. And I remember like walking in the hotel. Cause we like,

Like I had my room at the Four Seasons in Boston. He had his, he had some friends with him. I had my brother with me. And I remember like, it was the craziest thing from the moment like we get there and he's like, what room are you? And like, I think it was like 1601. And next thing I know there's a knock on my door and there was like champagne left at my door. And I was like, what room are you? He was like, he was like 1603. I was like, what? Like we're literally...

one door and you're the next one. I was like, this is weird. Like there was all kinds of weird stuff that was happening that we're like, all right, this is like kind of meant to be, but I'll never forget. I walked, I got knocked on his door after I had gotten ready and I had on like this cute jean dress with like a belt to make my waist look, you know? And I remember like going in and I was like, I feel like I was looking out his window, you know, but got kind of on my tiptoes a little bit, make my legs look good.

- Had to get him calf muscles shining bright. - Exactly. And literally within 10 minutes of us talking, 'cause I had to go to LA for work and he had to go to LA for some like personal stuff. But he was going like a week before me, he was like,

I'm gonna go ahead and change my trip. I'll just be there the same week as you. And I'm like, we just met 10 minutes ago and you're already changing your trip to LA? - Marcus did that same thing to me. Dude canceled his flight after our first one-on-one date. He came to Charlotte to take me on a date. - After y'all made out that night, then what was the timeline from there? - Well, okay, so I guess I did skip a whole lot because I don't know, I get really excited.

When I get backstage, you know, to go up on the bus, my girlfriend Erin, like, she and I can bring a vibe. You know, like, we're going to set the tone in here because we're not going to be scared of these famous people. Us little regular old gals. I'm wearing this gigantic gold kimono, not kimono, caftan, and these huge bird earrings. And one of, like...

a you know a character trait that I have is like I'm just gonna go ahead and talk shit about myself before y'all do because like I I know I know what I was wearing when I left the house and I know what I it may be ridiculous to you but I look like big bird and that's what I said when I walked on the bus and he goes no you're a little bird and I was oh my god I have chills just saying it back right now I was just like oh my god you're like you're

you want to marry me now? Let's kiss. We were just hanging out the whole night and I made a comment like, look at God. And he replied, won't he do it? And I'm like, no.

okay, this is getting a little weird. And so yeah, we go from there. And that night, he's like, didn't want me to leave. He wanted me to go on the bus with him. I'm like, you have lost your mind because your girl got to log in at 8am. Getting connected to that VPN. And I got things to do. You know, so I was like, no, see you later. And it was like a movie watching the bus roll away. My friend and I are getting in our Uber and I'm so sad. And he

And he texts me the next morning at 9:00 AM. I took a screenshot of it and it's like, "Well, I'm nice and sober and I still want to marry you. Like quit your job and marry me." And this is one of the tragic parts of the story is like, I'll tell this on paper,

And like, we got married. It's like she he told her to quit her job and marry him. And so she did. Oh, my God. Like, like, I just did it that day. Yeah, I worked until we got engaged. You know, I'm riding around the bus. Here I am skipping a bunch of steps, but logging into that WebEx, hosting those calls. And it just got to be too much for me. But anyway.

You weren't just willing to give it all up to be with someone. Hell no. And so you were still continuing to do it. But then also part of being in the South and being with a true man is...

And I'm just saying like old school way of things is like, they want to take care of you. They want to provide for you. And so that if that's what you decide to do, great. Yeah. And it's nobody else's business. Right. Because that's what we were saying with social media can be so cruel. Right. And especially with you and your personality and sense of humor, people take that.

And turn humor into something that it's not. Yeah. Yeah. They take it to like a weird dark place. And I'm like, that's totally not what I meant. But yeah.

you have your story and I know the truth so I'm just like whatever so how long did y'all I love this into it's like in weird ways it's like very reminiscent of like yeah my story just like with Robert it was so funny which I don't even think I've ever told this before so the first night like obviously we had gone to the concert like everybody was drinking everybody's having a good time

And that night he goes, I think I love you. Literally that night. The night y'all met. The night we met in person. Yes. I love that kind of shit. I think I love you. I said, you're weird. Shut the fuck up. I literally said, shut the fuck up. Get out of my face. Literally. So we said like, all right, we get married. His drink, his wedding drink is going to be, I think I love you. And mine's going to be shut the F up.

Love it. Love it. I love little details like that at weddings. Like you have to hold on to special moments like that. Because I mean, clearly I did, you know, with the little bird stuff and, you know, all that. That is so see.

And that's like a full circle moment because when you walked in that bus and he was like, no, Little Bird. And now your hat company is called Little Bird Trucking. Yeah. And that is awesome. I had to throw the trucking aspect in there because I didn't want to limit myself to just like trucker hats. So I didn't want to call it like Little Bird Trucker Hats because I'm like, what if I want to

yeah, I don't know, make cowboy hats one day or do something different. So I didn't want to like pigeonhole myself, no pun intended in that corner. Everything is bird related in my life. I'm not kidding. It's just like always a God wink. Like somehow birds are just always part of the conversation anyway. Yeah. Little bird trucking. So my dad is a long haul truck driver and has been, Oh,

Oh, my God. His entire life. And my mom works in finance in that space. And so it was just kind of wild because Marcus and I's dynamic is exactly the same. He's out on the road trucking and I'm working this little desk job like my mom. It's the same dynamic. And so when y'all met, how long did y'all date? And then...

Yes. Okay. So we dated, I think roughly seven ish months. But I mean, like when we met, it was like, okay, we're boyfriend and girlfriend. There was like a small break where he, like a small window. He was like, I don't think I am ready for a relationship. And I was like, okay, I did not ask you. Well, I'm thinking to myself, I did not even ask you for a relationship. I ain't even, I have not brought that vibe, you know, cause I'm, I'm still playing it cool every year. Um, and I'm just scoping it out. Cause I,

I'm like, this guy's obsessed with me, you know? Exactly. When does that ever happen? I'm sorry, but not in my life. You know, I felt like I was just constantly chasing what was running from me. And like, finally, this one wants me so bad, is so sweet, so kind. And like, this love is so...

I'm gonna cry. No, I'm not, not crying. Who's crying? Nobody's crying here. But his, you know, just demeanor and the way he cared about me and I never had to be like, oh, is he gonna text me today? You know, oh, is he gonna call me today? Is he gonna like my Instagram picture? Is he gonna...

you know, is he, is he going to do, I never show up. Yeah. Cause he was sending flowers every day. He was calling every day. You know, he was consistent every day. He was everything I had been searching for my entire life, you know? Yeah. And, and,

It just fell on my lap. And so seven months later, we got engaged. And like, I mean, I introduced this man to my family one time. I wrote my mom a letter at Thanksgiving saying, I'm driving to Tennessee in the middle of the night. I got up. I was like, I can't be away from him. Like, I miss him so much. Like, I'm gonna be married right now. I think in October, I bought us like Mr. and Mrs. pillowcases that I found at a vintage shop. We just knew, you know. Oh, yeah.

I loved him so much. I wasn't ready to say it as quick as he was because...

Cause I had my guard up, you know, and I'm 30 and I'm like, I was crushing it. Cause how old is he? He's 28. So he's younger. Yes. And it's just so everything about it was so different from what I've like pictured in my life. And, um, well, God gives you exactly what you need when you need it. He really doesn't for all the other relationships before you would never have been able to appreciate that.

how he showed up? - I could never ever say it more perfectly because you get into those shitty relationships and you,

go they go back to back a lot of times or at least they did for me and i just got to the point where i'm like okay this is just like how i'm supposed to be treated i've never i don't know that i've ever been loved before like properly never been properly courted by a gentleman and at this so when how old were you when y'all met i just turned 30. yeah okay and another thing in the south

That's old. You're washed up, girl. Hang in

You're going to be working forever. You're going to be alone. You know, in case you must graze, if you ain't got two kids by 21, you're just going to die alone. Exactly. And so you start thinking like, well, maybe I just, maybe this is normal. Maybe I should settle for this. Or maybe like, did you find yourself in relationships before him and being like, maybe this is as good as it gets. Yeah. Oftentimes, um, the one before him, um, I,

it was, God, COVID. That's when that ended. And I can just remember, you know, he had done, you know, I won't go into detail, but just something not very nice. And my mom had to drive two hours to come get me because he'd pretty much, it was me, my wiener dog, and my Vera Bradley. And he told, you know, I'm just going to say it. He told me, why don't you go sit by the garbage where you belong? And threw me out. And my mom drives to come get me. Okay.

Can't get an Uber. Restaurants are closed. It's the first week in the world shut down. And my mom is crying on the way home. She's just going, when is it going to be your turn? You know, like, when are you going to be loved? And I'm like, girl, I don't know. I was just by a dumpster. I'm still trying to process that part. Like, let me get over that part first. That is. But you know what? Like.

- You have to be so grateful for that moment right now. - It's a picture memory. - But I can only imagine though, when Marcus came along, like how hard it had to be to believe that someone was that good. - My therapist,

showed me this video of a guy training himself to like, he just rewired a complete bicycle. And when you turn it left, you go right. And if you try to pedal forward, it goes backward. And she basically told me like, watch this, you can retrain your brain.

you can get all of this negativity and trauma that you've experienced out and you can wake up and realize that you do deserve to be loved. Like you don't have to settle for these things

stupid white men that wear these button-ups and these trucker hats and these little cargo shorts. Like, that does not have to be the end point for you. And that's, you know, exactly what happened. This long-haired, tatted man came in my life, and I'm like, yeah, that's the one. That's the one. That's the one. That's where I'm going. Yeah. That is wild.

Wow. So how long have y'all been married? February was a year, so almost a year and a half. So we're, I guess, newlyweds. Yeah. I don't know. When do you stop saying you're a newlywed? I don't know if you ever... I mean, I feel like your first five years is pretty like newlywed. Well, if it feels this good, I'm a newlywed for the rest of my life, you know? Because, like, I've just...

I'm just so happy and I want the same. Like hearing you talk about how much you like love your boyfriend and like how this reminds you of him. Like, I'm like, I want this for you now. It

That's the thing though is, and also too, I don't want people listening to think like, oh, it's all sunshine and rainbows. No. Like, no. Because trust me, there's roadblocks. There's some times that you're just not communicating right. There are times to where you're butting heads or you're like, just because you're in love with someone and you have this fairy tale, it just means that the good times outweigh the bad. Right. You found your partner and you found your best friend. And that is what I have. And Marcus is a best friend and a partner. And, you know, I,

to that point I've worn many hats. - Literally. - You know, I've been a recruiter, worked at a bank, worked in litigation, like been just popping all over the place. - Girl, you have been the jack of all trades. - It's been a wild ride, but wife is probably the hardest role I've ever played. And, you know, having Marcus and meeting Marcus and just being a part of his life is just like,

I heard my dad say at one time, there are two things you don't fuck with. My wife, my kid, or three things. My wife, my kids, or my money. And I have held on to that. I don't have any kids yet, so I put the dogs in that equation. But that's just where our marriage stands, and it's like that on both sides. I know that he's got my back in everything I do. I love it.

I love that. So do y'all want kids? I think Marcus would be perfectly fine if I pop one out tomorrow. But that is like not on my agenda right now. I've got to get help with these hats first. Get help with these hats. Yeah, if you want to come on out to the house and put some boxes together. I will come help you. I will come put some boxes together. I will. And two, I just have to say, like the way that you are,

I just everything I just you are like a hustler and you that's why it was like this whole thing. I was like, I know you love your husband, but like, I want to know who you are. Yeah. You know, because does is are there times where that gets challenging for you? Yes. Yeah, it does. And I'll be perfectly honest. I'm in that.

spot right now. It's challenging right now. And that's why I say being a wife is one of the hardest jobs that I've ever had because, you know, little bird is my baby, but so is my husband. You know, that's my quisha boy. I love my baby. So it's like, I've got these two and I got to take care of them both. I want them both to flourish and I got to be there for them both. And it's just,

It's hard doing everything by myself with the hats. But is it hard, like, as a woman to feel like, all right, like, you have your... You're a rock star. You're just...

you've got millions of people who love you, but like, Hey, I have my own identity too. You know, like, I feel like it's so hard. It's so easy to get wrapped up or, and someone else's, especially as a woman, because we just feel like that's just what we're supposed to do. Right. Especially where we are from. Um, yeah, you just kind of,

break into the mold of whatever your husband's doing. Or at least, you know, that was the picture that was always painted for me. And yeah, it was hard at first because you do get the comments, the gold digger, the, you know, all of that kind of crap. But yeah,

You know, I know what goes on at home. And I know what's real. And y'all ain't got a clue. Literally. We are, you know, it's just wonderful. It's like I can't even put it into words. So it doesn't matter how much of my time I throw into Little Bird. I know I've got my best friend there. And I'm contributing to my household. It makes me feel good. He...

And I say this to anyone because one of the questions I always get asked on Instagram is like, how did you know he was the one? Because he let me be myself. He wanted me to be myself. And I'd never, again, never had that because you meeting me, I'm not very normal. You know, kind of weird. You know, you're just so like, I wish more people were like you. Like I look at you and when you walked in and you're just like,

Pouring coke down my Louis Vuitton. Exactly. You're just like, you know what? This is life. Like, I wish I had, which I'm getting better, but I wish I had the ability to just truly be me and like not care. So who you are, I'm like, I find it absolutely amazing. What is so crazy to hear you say that is because I sit here and I'm like, I wish I could be more like Savannah, more put together. Why? Why?

Why do I have to disclose every single detail? I mean, like, late for a doctor's appointment. Sorry. Hey, I'm here. Briley King. Me? I'm so sorry. You know what? Like, I just dumped Coke down my pocketbook and my dog ran away and so I was chasing it and then while I accidentally, the door opened so the cat got out too, but I'm here. It's Briley King. You know, like...

just check in, you know? That was hilarious. You know, it's so funny to hear the contrasting because I'm like, I want to be poised. I want to be Miss Tennessee, Miss Tennessee teen, Miss Tennessee USA. You know, I want, that was what I always wanted. And I, you know, I think the best part is, is like, like you said, you found someone that like loves you for every day.

part of who you are. Yeah. Like even Robert and I, we had a conversation earlier and I was like, you just never tell me like if I do something that you don't like or if I he was like, but babe, like

even if you do something that maybe I don't like, or maybe you do things that I don't like, he was like, that makes you who you are. And it also contributes to all the other things I love about you. And so it's like, I'm like, well, shoot. Okay. Well, that's perfect response. Let's ramp it up. How much wilder can we get? Let's see what he can handle. Let's get married. I know. Okay.

I forgot about that. Jesus Christ, girl. As if I didn't have enough. Well, that's the beauty of it all, right? It's just like the chaos. We were talking about it. You know, I came in here like a tornado and it's just...

It just is what it is. And you handle it with like such, such grace. I mean, I admire you from afar. I probably have DM'd you and told you that. But now we're like friends. We're hanging out. Besties, yeah. We're hanging out. Yeah, for sure. And so what would you say? Is it hard? Because see, I know right now, like I'm in a long distance relationship and it's tough. It can be really tough. In a way, you are in a long distance marriage. True. Because he's...

always on the road. So how do you deal with that? Like, how often do y'all get to see each other? I personally love it because I love it because I get my space and I can do the hats without it being in Marcus's way because I do everything out of the house. So it's nice. But I miss him. So we don't go very long. This is actually the longest we've ever gone right now. Just like two weeks. But

I know that's me and Robert. We're on two weeks. The bugs got you, girl. This is bad. But the the reason so my therapist says and like, you know, she kind of conditioned me. Yeah. Not kind of told me that this is what I would do.

kind of gravitate to because my father was a long haul truck driver. So he was in and out. You know, he would be gone for a day and a half because he ran from North Carolina to Florida and back. So it was just my mom a lot of the time. And then dad comes in like a superhero. So growing up with that dynamic of the man coming and going and working, Marcus and I, it's just very similar and it's just very natural to me. - And it works for you. - It does.

I mean, you've got to have moments of sadness. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Um, down in the dumps a lot, you know, like I was saying earlier, it's just one of those phases of life that I'm going through right now is, uh, I am dealing with the depression and you know, all the things that come with social media and the internet and misconceptions and being home alone because my husband's at work and, um,

I just smoke a lot of weed and watch Chrisley Knows Best. I mean, like it's just pizza Pringles, a joint and TV. Is that, am I allowed to say that? - Hey, you say whatever you want. - Okay, 'cause it's just, it's the facts and which I'm so, when-- - We all do whatever we have to do to get through. - Yeah.

- I don't care what it is, whether your vice is food, alcohol, whatever, like we all do. It's, I'm sorry, but 2024. - Yeah. - We've all had a hell of the past four years. - Yeah.

we all do whatever we need to do to get by. Yeah. So, and I, well, I tell you like we were communication is like constant. It has to be, you know, that in a long distance relationship has to be. And, um, you know, whether it just be, Hey, pulse check for the day. Trust is like the number one thing that I have in my marriage. And, um,

You know, one of the main reasons that I even got into this relationship to start with was because like loyalty and trust was just written all over this man. And that is like, if you want to talk about like it's purest form of how I get by, it is because I trust my husband. Like I trust.

you know, I trust him and I love him. And that's like at its purest form, how I get through that. And like I said, some weight and missing him and he's always sending me flowers, you know, always doing thoughtful things for me. He's just the most thoughtful person on planet earth. I could do a whole season.

about Marcus King's love because like I started this off but there was no way because I wanted to make it about you but for you there was no way to make it about you without him yeah yeah and that's when you know yeah like it wasn't you were not like hey this is all about me you're like no no but like he helps make me who I am he he really brought

the girl that I always wanted to be and that I am out of me. Like, like he pushes me to be my best self, to be my authentic self, to wear the crazy things like matching clothes,

what is that? Like, just do you be Briley King. Like he just always encourages that. And so, um, yeah, it's just, it's always come easy, but there are, there are the bumps in the road, especially on the bus. A lot of bumps, a lot of bumps on the road, a lot of bumps and boys. Yeah. I don't know how you do it. Um, I cry a lot.

I cry a lot and we have our dog so we take the dog with us everywhere. Duck.

We have three dogs and two cats. Oh, Lord. Girl, it's a wild animal shelter over there. Yeah. It's wild at my house. And so I do have when he's gone, I have four or five animals. So I got something to cling to. I love that. OK, so where do you hope your business like where do you see it going in the next five years?

Oh, my. Here I am just trying to get past the next hump right here. So I don't know. This is such a wide open question because like if I pulled out my notes app right now, I would have what they could record a whole season of music.

Shark tank. I got so many ideas. I got so many ideas. So I just, I want to pivot, move from trucker hats, keep going. I'd love to have a clothing line. Girl, you could do it. Clothes are hard.

Well, yeah, that's the thing. Clothes are really hard. I will tell you, I dipped my toes in it and clothes are very hard. Hard. It's like especially in today's day and age when you have all this TikTok shop and stuff for literally five dollars and you're like, uh. And the person beside you can rip you off like in a heartbeat. You know, it's just as challenging. And in five years, I mean, I hope.

Shit, I want to be like in a Bass Pro shop. Like I want my I want it to be everywhere. I want everyone to be wearing a little bird trucking hat. But I love that my boyfriend, he hunts, does all that. I went with him for the first time. Let's see. And we went duck hunting. Love it. And do you have like a camo hat?

- Yes. - With the bird feathers on it? - Okay, well I just-- - 'Cause I need something cute for-- - I got you. - Hunting like that. - I got you. - See, that's what we can do. We need to do, we can honestly do like a simple life type deal.

Girl, you better stop playing with me because I am dead serious. Cause they're bringing, there's bringing something Paris and Nicole back. Aren't they? Or am I making this up? I don't know. I mean, I thought I heard rumbles of that, but like I could do a simple life type deal. 100% throw me in it. I'm like, I love, love Paris and Nicole. I love the simple life. Like I love going back and watching that. Which one would you be? Like, which one would you be? Which one would I be? I feel like you are Paris. Yeah.

um like is everyone in the room nodding because um the one person in the room nodding because you're 100% Paris and I'm Nicole the little rat you know like I'm not saying Nicole's a rat I'm saying I'm a rat like I'm no you are not girl oh my god you should see I can't find these Clinton pictures you should see the house right now is it bad

I'm pretty sure there's something growing on Marcus's nightstand in a cup. Just like I eat cookie dough at night with a glass of milk every night. And it's probably. Okay. See, look, see, like, so like when we went hunting, but like imagine like your hat. What kind of camo are you wearing? What's on the hat? Cause you got like a duck camo on the bottom. I know it was whatever, because apparently I had like a,

The hat I had was not sufficient enough. Did you wear orange? It had some color. Did you show up to a dog wearing orange or something? I think it had some color in it. And so he was like, babe, just throw on my hat, please. I was like, all right, fine. Let's face it. I'm like, I am from the South. I'm not here for the content. Yeah, like, I'm not here for the content.

But like after going the first time, I was like, wait, I actually like this. It's fun. It's fun. So like, all right, we'll get into it. If it flies, it dies, baby. Like that's, I'm going to put that on, on a hat for you. That's hilarious. Girl, we should do like a hat for the podcast and like,

I'm in. We should do that. I'm in. It's so funny. And everyone always asks where I get my trucker hats. Literally always. They're like, you have some good ones. You have good ones. They're like, but we, all right, we're talking. Y'all, I'm telling you, we're putting this, you have to speak it. And then it happens. Yes.

That would be so awesome. Kind of scary, but like good for everybody else to watch, you know? Will you hand me that bag that she got me? Because there's hats in there, right? Yeah, there's one in there. Okay, let me see it. No.

The glitter bag. And I'm so sorry if there's glitter on it. It's fine. It doesn't matter. Because I want to look at it and then we can show people because it's better when they see. Yeah. And I'd love to actually talk about that. There's a little book in there for you too and a card and all the things. Y'all. There is glitter on it. I knew that bag was going to do that. It is. But it's okay. Okay.

Awesome. Thank you. This was one of my first designs, and I kind of went into detail in the card, but this was one of the first ones, and I named all of my hats after Marcus's music. Stop it. Oh, I love it.

as if it could, dear God, as if it couldn't get any more love story. Well, I'm about to take a dark turn here, but I'm about to pivot a little bit, but this one is called The Cadillac. And nobody even knew or like, Marcus didn't even believe

like Blinkin' Eye, he recorded his record and I started this like a year and a half before it even came out. You know, his new record just came out in April. Okay. So we're fresh out of it and

Cadillac is the last song on the record and he let me sing the background vocals on it and basically the story behind the song is talks about Marcus's struggle with his mental health and his battle with suicide and when I met Marcus I he had a plan and

that he was going to follow through with. And I was like, I got to change the course here. I got to get in here. And he's known for his Eldorado. But anyway, he was planning to take his life in his Cadillac. And I was like, nope, we're rebranding Cadillac. We're rebranding that Eldorado. That car is going to have a new meaning, new life. Like you've brought me new life. Let's bring you new life. And so-

Yeah. I know that you speak about mental health a lot. And you bring-

People don't realize, especially too, when you're in the public eye and what you have, it can look like everything is great. And every, you're smiling, you're, you have number ones, you are talented, you're beautiful, but, and people are like, oh, they're fine. Right. And you're like, no, like not, it took all I had to put on that front for you and I'm not okay. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. And that's another God, like,

wink yeah sure yeah and that is the reason I wanted you to have this specific hat is because you shed such a positive light and y'all on mental health yeah obsessed oh my god I'm gonna get you a camo too so no and too we're gonna come up with some designs like our own little for sure for sure that is

absolutely amazing. Yeah. I'm like, I'm excited to, to pivot with the, the hats. I've got some new stuff coming out. I don't know when this is, when, when does this air? It'll,

What? Two, three weeks? Oh, okay. Well, I'll talk about... So when is it? When's your stuff coming out? Honestly, I don't know. I have a meeting about it tomorrow. So that's, you know, kind of part of the journey as well. But I interviewed my dad because I grew up... We had CB radios in our personal vehicles, you know, like the ones that the truckers used. Stop. Like Breaker Breaker 19. She's a big old flirt. Yeah. Breaker Breaker 19, 19, 19, Channel 19. That is like the truck drivers, like...

You know, like their meeting space where they all go like if they need some kind of information. So I interviewed my dad and I'm like, what are some like what's some CB radio slang that you use that like common folk don't know? And reefer was one of them. Stop. It's a semi truck pulling a refrigerated trailer. So I'm doing this like whole trucking series to kind of honor my dad's part of that.

The trucker hat story. Yeah. So I'm, I'm like pumped about it, but man, he told me some wild, wild stories. What was like the wildest thing?

One of my favorite stories is when he somehow with his CB radio tapped into the McDonald's like intercom. And my dad's like, like your dad, he's a jokester. You know, he's so funny. The funniest guy in the room. And he taps into the McDonald's intercom system somehow. And it's like.

talking to my mom and she's like, what in the redneck is going on? But she knows what's going on. She knows that somehow my dad has done that. And that's like...

That is amazing. You know, he's told me some wilder stories, but... Oh, my God, yes. They're not very PG. Yeah, right? Not very. Lot lizard, like, terms like that. Have you ever heard that? No, but is that like the... Mm-hmm. The ones that are walking around a lot, late at night. Oh, my God. Stop. But the real, like, real professional, they call them commercial company. Stop. That's like a more professional title. That is amazing. Like, you're doing a whole... See, actually...

Anything with meaning behind it will be successful. Yeah. I try to make everything authentic to me. That's the reason I wanted to come on this podcast is like this felt authentic to me. This is like my favorite podcast to date, by the way. I'm going to throw up and pee my pants right now. I absolutely genuinely just love.

You know when some people, like you meet someone and you're like, oh, they don't give me good vibes. Yeah, like Nashville. Yeah, right? Thank you. And then like you meet people and just instantly the moment they walk in the room, you're like,

they're amazing yeah like that is you yeah unfortunately for you I already had like a pretty good read on you because I've watched like I just grew up while I grew up with you you know um so I uh I knew it was gonna be a good one so I'm going to see my boyfriend this weekend so we're on week two and we're freaking ending that when do y'all get to end y'all's we um I haven't really set a date so I'm going to the Memorial Day weekend so you don't know when you will see him I

I do not. Not yet, but there's like a couple of shows that are like big on the calendar that I got to go to and the girls in my TikTok comment. Hey! Stop. This is a fucking joke. Am I unpunked? You're unpunked. Is that Reigns? Yeah. How you doing? I have to be here and congratulate you. How you doing?

Don't get my lipstick on you. You look so pretty. Well, I had help. Look at this purse. Doesn't it look like yours? It looks like mine. Yeah. Okay. I just had to give you a hug. She has like raised. I've been raising Cain in here. Oh my gosh. I have never heard someone talk about their spouse. Do you have a microphone in here? We planned all this. We saved some.

And I was like, I almost blew it because when I asked you where you were from and then I almost said something about him being like from. You're from Seneca, right? Yeah. And so I almost blew it, but I didn't. And I was like, I had to backtrack a little. Have I said anything I shouldn't have said? I really needed you this whole day. You sound great. Oh my God, I'm so happy you're here. You didn't need me at all. No, I really do.

I had to lie a whole bunch so she didn't know where I was. You know what? It's so good that she's running late today because she usually checks my location a lot. No, I did. When I was pulling up, I saw, you know, now on iPhones, it tells you

At the top of the message like Nashville to yeah, but he didn't even like I thought that was my I don't know I was just like so in a rush. She was she came in and she was like spilling her drink in her purse I had to take that out of the bag. I spilled the tea on it I heard sounded great

Oh my God, I can't believe you brought me a racing car. Did you cancel the show? Aren't you like, what? I don't even know. I just got to fly back out tomorrow. I had to come and congratulate you. Oh my God, see? I'm just really proud of you. I like this. That's nice. Oh my God, wait. Do you have a microphone on? I'll send one. Oh, come on. No, wait, Mark, can we have a picture?

- We'll put you in a chair. - Let me sit in your lap. - Please. - You were so, she, like, you were shocked. - It's been the best day of my life.

I'm obsessed with this moment right now. Like, it's usually always about Marcus, so this is like... It's all about you. No, this is just so... See what I mean? Like, he just turns everything, makes everything special. But that's what I said, though. About you, though, like, I wanted to make this all about you, and you, within three minutes of starting the podcast, you could not...

Talk about you without talking about him. I have a hard time talking about like my successes. Wouldn't you say is partially due to the comments I have to read? Like I don't read them. Guess what? My daddy always told me. He said, it's none of your business what someone else thinks of you. Amen. It is none of your business. And I'm telling you, the moment you stop reading them.

life gets a heck of a lot better. Well, that's what I did. You have to funny. You say that because your dad also said, I was like looking for something this morning. Cause I knew that your dad is from like death Valley, South Carolina, where Marcus is. Um, and so I was like looking for something. And I was like, did, did he go to Clemson? Like, I know they're like, they're from a week before he graduated high school. So hot high school dropout.

High school dropout. Is that not like the hottest thing ever? Like, yeah, my man dropped out of high school. I'm sorry, but he hates it. But it's like, it's my lead. I can't believe I even said it today. It's my leading comment. I'm like, oh yeah, my man dropped out of high school. Because of how successful you are. You know what I mean? That it's like one of those things that it's like,

it didn't need it. You know what I mean? Like, yes. And that's another reason I loved him so much was because one of our first conversations that really stuck with me was, I was like, you know, like, how did you like,

Stick with it like like cuz you know he he's been in the game what you started like playing clubs and stuff by yourself L 13 11 started sneaking in places when I was like 12 and 13. Yeah, so I'm like, how did you keep pushing and it stuck with me forever? He said I didn't have a safety net and

And give it some thought. I did. I had, I could, I could call mom and dad if I needed to, if I thankfully never had to do that, but I had my parents to fall back on. And, um, I,

Not that you don't have your parents to fall back on, but, you know, there was no college degree. There was no. Yeah. There you know, there was no nine to five job to fall back on. You know, it was do this or die. And, you know, when you have no other choice. Right. And when you're as talented as you are, like you just do it.

I was blessed too, like my dad and my grandfather and my uncles all played music professionally. Really? When I was coming up, it was viewed as like, just like how my father-in-law is a truck driver. And, you know, if I drove a truck, he would view that as a, you know, a viable source of income to support a family because he did it. Yeah. And he did really well at it. And my family supported my desire to get into music.

because it was looked at as like a good job you're good at it yeah do it why not you know your story and i just have to say i was looking at your instagram and you talking about your mental health i'm like we do that we were saying we do that on my podcast like i spoke about and too for the longest time i didn't like you all know growing up in the south like

You had your emotions. You don't put your dirty laundry out for everyone to see. Like we can deal with stuff at home. You don't go to therapy. You don't do that. Yeah.

Yeah, exactly. You go to church, like the Bible tells you this or whatever, like, and it's hard. And then as you become an adult, you're like, I can't do this anymore. And I don't know how to deal with it. I don't know how to cope with it. And I've spoken about just my own mental health and suicide attempts, stuff like that. And just hearing you in one of your latest videos talking about anxiety and depression. I'm like, people need to hear this. They do.

They do. Yeah. He has such a powerful, powerful story. You know, like, I don't know if you were in here for the Cadillac story, but it's just that whole... I heard a little bit of it. Yeah. That whole record is, you know, really...

just is a capsule of the mind of someone who struggles with mental health and the ups and the downs. And it's just such a great record. I mean, every record he's put out is like amazing. That's why I knew she, she really loved me, you know?

What do you mean? That's why, because she talks about the downs. When she met me, I was in a real down. Really? And see, that's the thing is she doesn't even, I wouldn't know it as that. Yeah, no. Um,

But when you say that, it reminds me of the song I just posted the other day. It's a song by Lissy, but it's called They All Want You. And the whole premise of the song is like, they all want you when you're shining like a barfly. You know, like when you're out up on stage, like every girl wants you. But I want you, this guy that is down in the rut. You know, like I want that guy. Right.

As broken as you are, I'm very much broken myself. And maybe we can put the pieces together and fix this, you know? What would you say got you to that point? Well, I mean, it's a lot of things. It's an amalgamation of substance abuse and self-medicating drugs.

misdiagnoses and growing up in the South where mental health isn't prominent and just trying to understand your relationship with mental health. And that led me to just this really

I had a lot of abandonment issues too that kind of made me codependent in my last relationships and that created this toxic thing and then when it finally really ended like you know then I relied on the only other reliables in my life which has been substances and music you know and um you know when Briley came along she became the main constant in my life and just changed it all around

Because she mentioned kind of your story and just basically like you had a plan. What was it that changed? What was it that you were like, all right, this is a life worth living? Oh, man, I told her the night I met her I was going to marry her. I didn't have plans past that night. You know, the night before I met her, there was a doctor there checking me out and, you know, telling me to taper off.

And, you know, I just didn't have really any plans past that evening. Yeah. You know, really. And when I met her, I was just like, I don't know. It's like somebody threw me a life raft right when I'd given up. Yeah.

Well, that's the thing. It's like God shows up like just when you need him. God, you should have seen her bust on my tour bus. Yeah. She told his big bird. Yeah. Yeah. And then your little bird. She is a little bird. Oh, yeah. Busted on there playing Linda Ronstadt. I was like, this is my bus now. We're listening. Give me the aux cord. I was so nervous. I couldn't. I was nervous, too. I couldn't even talk to her. She couldn't stop talking.

Is anyone surprised? No, not at all. Not at all. No one even blinked at that. That is... I just absolutely love the two of you. I love this man. Like, you have restored my hope and people and relationships. And you are insanely talented. And your voice and your... Just everything about you, I'm like...

You deserve all the praise. Thank you. And I'm telling you, when it comes to people online, screw them. Fuck them. Literally. Because guess what? Y'all got each other and that's all you need. That is all you need. I'm so glad this all worked out. I just enjoyed listening to y'all. I blacked out. I have no idea what I said. I definitely said I smoke a lot of weed on here. You mentioned it a few times and, you know, that's all right, honey. Okay.

If you could see how many joints I have burned through while you've been gone. I thought you meant while you were here. No. And your nightstand. Are you coming home? Yeah. Okay. Well, I got to rush home. Before we go, what's your, your obsession with raising canes? Is that like your thing?

Girl, I'm a chicken tent. I'm a kids meal. So my TikTok name is Kids Meal Supreme because I just set up TikTok because I thought I was just going to be a little burner account.

I troll, you know? Yeah. Back when... I may need to use your account. Well, get on there. Because Kids Meal Supreme will, you know, guide you to the good chicken tenders. So I just love chicken tenders and I love Bojangles. And my order at Bojangles is a Kids Meal Supreme with french fries, extra seasoning, barbecue sauce, and a large sweet tea. And so I love pageants. And you know, there's Ultimate Grand Supreme. No.

I'm the kids meal supreme. So I love chicken tenders. Bojangles is like one of my top. Yeah. Top tender and Raising Cane's. Top tender. How would you rank? Would you say, I think Raising Cane's might be my number one. And that's, I'm only saying that because Bojangles is like not reaching out. You know what I mean? They're not. They gave me a hoodie. Hey, maybe. Maybe.

Raising canes well, they should look they're the best chicken tender out there. I'll tell you right now I mean ain't Zach speeds Bojangles Hey First y'all yeah heard it from the kids mill supreme herself. Yes. I heard it here first Well, thank y'all so much now y'all got to go spend the night together. We're gonna go kiss. Yeah Y'all only got about less than 24 hours. Yeah, well, okay. I don't even know what's going on

going on? I don't even know when he's leaving. I just know he came to surprise you. I'm supposed to be getting one of those crazy head massage things after this. Oh, you better cancel it. Yeah. Maybe I can get you an appointment. I don't know. But I'm prioritizing me today. You should. That's what I'm doing. Thank you. Thanks for having me. Yeah, thank you so much for having us.
