You would have heard this break right at the end of Michael's show, but a plane has come down in a park in our southwestern suburbs. So just metres from a local primary school at 2.30 this afternoon, so about 40 minutes ago, emergency services were called to Tyrone Park, which is on Garnet Street in Bosley Park.

And a light plane has smashed down through the trees. It is sitting right next to a sort of basketball court there at the Catholic primary school. It's extraordinary how close this plane was to the local school. Now, remarkably, nobody has been hurt. That's our information at the moment. Paramedics have assessed the two people on board and both have declined the option to be transported for hospital.

And the plane didn't catch on fire. Now, there's no fire, no smoke. That's what fireys tell us. But they're there just on scene as a precaution. But Therese works at Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School. It's right next to the park where the plane crashed. And she saw the whole thing happen. Therese, g'day. Hi.

Hi, how are you, Chris? I'm not too bad. What did you see? Well, to be honest, we were just... Our office faces right out onto the park and one of our parents just came running in saying, ''I've just seen a plane come down.'' And we all ran out.

And we could see right at the front of our office, down the back of the park, because it's a council park that backs onto us, and we could see the plane sitting in the trees. And people had surrounded it very quite quickly because it's half an hour before pick-up time, so there's a lot of parents around. And then we had some of our staff...

go across and they were telling us that people were assisting the pilot out of the plane. He seemed to be quite fine. And luckily, because it's so close to home time, all our students were up in the school, nowhere on the park. So we were so grateful for that. Did you see the pilot and the passenger get out or anything of the like?

I personally didn't see it. One of our staff said they could see the man being pulled out and he was walking and seemed fine, like seemed to be fine. Yeah, that's about as much as we could see because we were trying to see everything from here. We've got a good view. Yeah, I'm just having a look at some of the pictures coming in from the news helicopters.

And this plane, Therese, is mightily close to your primary school. It definitely is. The parent who came in to alert us said it was sort of... As she was driving towards the school to come and pick up the children, she noticed the plane was sort of like coming across over our school and she thought it looked a bit funny as it was moving and then she saw it was going down and she came in to tell us. So...

We're very lucky, most definitely, thankfully. So it's only sort of a small strip of trees between both the school and then on the other side of the strip of trees is a full residential area in the middle of Bosley Park. Absolutely.

Absolutely, very close to Barrington Street residents there and obviously we've got our Westwall Road residents just near the little roundabout there so extremely close, very lucky everyone's okay. And Therese, what's the scene there like at the moment? Lots of police and everyone around?

Absolutely, lots of police and obviously we've been trying to make sure our parents are able to safely get to the school and get the children home as quickly as possible. The police have been amazing advising us and also the parents have been pretty good listening to our directions and making sure everyone gets home safely. Therese, I really appreciate your time. Thank you so much. All the best to everyone there. No worries, Chris.

Thank you. Bye-bye. That's Therese. She's a staff member at Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School in Bosley Park. Again, if you're just tuning in, a plane has crashed into a local park at Bosley Park. It's called Tyrone Park. It's on Garnet Street in Bosley Park. And as I'm looking at these pictures now, this is a full residential area where there is a little bit of green space that backs on to a Catholic primary school.
